100% agree that using your life update to get $$$$ is absolutely snark-worthy! I can empathize that this is a stressful time for her. Personally, I know I absolutely want kids in the future and if any dates/boyfriends are wishy-washy on that, they are not for me. Not saying that not wanting kids is bad at all, but the degree to how seriously someone wants (or doesn't want) kids should be discussed. If Jonah is someone who is steadfast on wanting kids that should've been a red flag. I will snark on turning your life update into paywalled clickbait lolīut from her own writing in the article it sounded like she always had doubts but felt like she maybe would come around on it eventually.
People are allowed to change their minds, especially with something as big as bringing children onto our f**ked up, dying planet and becoming a mother for the rest of your life. But when she'd checked off the first three things, she realized she wasn't sure if she wanted the last one. It sounded like she thought she'd want the "traditional life trajectory" of dating, getting married, buying a house then having kids. I didn't get the sense that they hadn't discussed it. Her writing is pretty good actually and I would probably keep it if I was as into pop culture, etc as she is, but its not useful for me (also I disagree with her politically so I have no interest in reading that).īut agree with others on here that wanting/having children is pretty big deal and something they definitely should've discussed before jumping the gun to get married in order to be a "pandemic bride." There was nothing aspirational or cute about her wedding imo, and I would be low-key embarrassed to keep going on about how spontaneous it was. I subscribed and cancelled the same day to read her latest post. and puts a LOT of work into the newsletter- and honestly a lot of my favorite content is behind a paywall now, so as long as it's good, she's not using Affiliate links, etc I really don't mind. The girl is pretty intense about reading and jumping on every single pop culture trend, show, album, newsworthy thing, etc. And that was a really mean way to put it- but I couldn't think of another one… everyone has the right to hurt and struggle, but there's just a lot of social "opening up" about "struggles" from literally everyone on social, NONSTOP.īUT I'll say, like other hams above do, I don't regret the $5 a month subscription.
